2020 is the start of a new decade and that calls for a change around you too. Which is why in the new year we thought we should start off by telling you about the big home decor trends that will hit across the globe in 2020.

The home decor pundits have made many a predictions. Some are outlandish while others quite doable and quite striking actually. The emphasis is definitely on laid back luxury. Everyone has their own little quirks about styling their homes and that is perfectly fine.

But every now and then we could all use a little change and nudging. You’re tired of looking at the same old design scheme, need a small refresh or simply like to follow what’s new now; taking your cue from design trends can help you figure out just how to update your home.

Now you know that Skyy is all about redefining that space. We firmly believe in a luxurious decorating style that is not in your face. Subtle patterns, textures, and modern shapes sort of a rich-bohemian vibe is what our style is all about.

Which is why we thought we should share a few things that are on the do-not-miss-this-year list.

So without much ado let’s see how things will shape up this year.

Natural Materials & Texture

Being environmentally conscious and using products which are sustainable has always been our mantra. And it seems the trendsetters agree with us. Combine innovation, sustainability, and natural materials to create fashion looks that are relaxing, inviting, and a retreat from the outside world.

We have always been concerned about our environment and our carbon footprint. We have products made of jute and coir, both natural resources. Designed and beautifully crafted jute and coir doormats, floormats and baskets are a part of our collection already and we will be adding more products soon.

A Riot Of Colours

Colours that are soothing and easy to live with, are showing up in everything from wall colours and furnishings to fabrics and accessories. Neutrals have dominated the scene for the past few years. People are ready for pops of colour.

If you are thinking that’s just what you need, then the Skyy cushions are perfect accessories that will help add colour with a bit of bohemian sophistication to your homes like our Amer and Aiana cushions. However, if you want warm neutrals then embrace colours like oatmeal and natural buff. Beige makes a comeback as the perfect base colour to build upon. Our Davina and Rang cushions pick up on this trend perfectly.

Comfortable & Textured Fabrics

Fortunately for everyone who loves to cosy up with a good book, comfy fabrics will be everywhere in the new year. So you can sit back and relax on soft, comfortable textured sofa, cushions and rugs. Comforting textures, soft colours and decorative details are key for textiles you should add to your home. Skyy’s Moroccan collection with cushions like Kerim and Lakai or our textured Mia cushion and rug fulfil this yearning for tactility and comfort.

High Contrast Décor

4 3

Your home is your haven. A personal sanctuary that you enjoy. So if widely contrasting colours has always been on your wishlist then this is the year to give it a shot.  High-contrast designs are currently having a moment. For example, you can try a chair with black fabric and a white frame. Or a console table in dark stained wood with light-coloured hardware.

Accessorizing your room using pops of dark grey, navy or black along with patterns and neutral backgrounds give that little bit of modern-day drama. Our circular Boden floormat adds that drama with its natural base paired with a graphic black border.

Ok, so it looks like you’re set to up your style game and make your home trendy in 2020. Don’t go overboard and if you need any help, give us a shout and we would be happy to help you put pieces that work together.
