Kantha is a type of embroidery that has originated in the state of Bengal and Orissa and is done mostly in villages. This intricate embroidery covers almost the entire fabric surface with a running stitch and holds a few layers of fabric together creating a gorgeous texture. The edges are finished with a criss-cross stitch.
